Yep, better nip that right in the bud.
I’m so proud of this week’s vote incentive. I actually had time to sit down and do a good one and it’s Tattle-themed! I got inspired by a song my fiance Luke stumbled across that had us dancing around to it on repeat because it’s just so damn catchy. Who would guess that you could mash a Nine-Inch-Nails song with “Call Me Maybe” and it would come out so awesome? Give it a listen, I dare you. On that note (haha) I updated Tattle”s playlist to include three more songs and… I think I’m going to call it finished. I’m happy with the story it tells and I can’t think of anything else to add or change. First completed list, woohoo!

I don’t always need a drink to wake me up
But when I do
I ensure it could make an entire army jittery as hell.
If the spoon isn’t smoking when you’re done stirring, it’s not done brewing. Eof!!
Go for it, Ten, get all the pain out at once :c Also I have a feeling this is going to remain -just- as awkward a subject for him in the future…
On another note, my oh my, who is that perturbed-looking blue monkey in the vote incentive? o.o;;
A story for the future! About the past!
I’m actually looking forward to it a lot (aside from drawing the fur… that’s going to be a bitch, especially with groups of the little buggers). As for a name for that character, I haven’t given him one yet. I’ve just been calling him ‘loyal soldier’ when I have to set him apart on Photoshop layers.
The species is one the kilm are at war with.
Aha! We now know of four alien (sentient) races now, eh? …and whatever the heck Li and La are.
Yes, it’s always the gossiper who happens to find out first. Then everyone knows. I like that someone is looking at Ten and whispering in panel 3, it’s a nice touch.
See? That’s just the kind of stuff that happens on station, that’s what had Sar’ Muss Kaht T’heer Sooo worried that would happen if Sar’ Helm let out that he had caught Moo crying. Rumours! They Spreads like wildfire, true or not.
Aaaah….. I don’t get it. If Min heard Ten say that he never gets past the “aesthetic appreciation” stage and isn’t sexually interested in *anyone*, then why do others now seem to believe that they can interest Ten, in that way?
Surely, if Min reported what she heard accurately, the others would be saying to themselves “well, no point in trying to romance Ten”?
Did Min only hear part of what happened? Did Min not tell the truth? Do the others (for some inexplicable reason) believe they can “cure” Ten of his asexuality? O.o
Ever play the game Chinese whispers?
It doesn’t really matter exactly what Min overheard. Two or three people down the line, all that’s getting conveyed is that Ten and Jovi fought and Ten doesn’t want to be with him.
That… makes sense… kind of.
I’ve noticed that, when given *any* information, most people seem to fixate on a near-meaningless detail and forget everything important in the message.
It’s part of what makes us people, I guess, so it’s kind of logical that it’s also part of what makes the kilm people.
But I will always remember a short sci-fi story where the human protagonist meets an alien who manages to understand him, but whom he can’t understand once they try to communicate beyond mathematics. That always seemed rather realistic to me. If there are aliens, it’s quite possible that they’d think so differently to us that we’d find them incomprehensible and/or vice-versa.
Oh sure, I agree with that completely. I imagine if/when we make contact with aliens, there are going to be some major communication issues, not to mention all the other sorts of differences and potential pitfalls there could be between two completely separate species meeting for the first time.
For the sake of the story and making the characters relatable, the kilm are very similar to humans in a lot of respects.
Also, so they can interact okay with other species, I make some basic assumptions: Each species on the whole is fairly similar in the way that individuals in each want the same sort of things… to live their lives, have access to food, shelter, comfort… the chance to find a mate and produce offspring… that sort of thing. The details and social/biological nuances might vary, but the overall point is people are people no matter what shape they come in.
Wait, … even if they are old and wrinkly and bald? They’re still people? That is a novel concept!
