Also, Atakames has some issues. Particularly the area Ten (& Jael) grew up.
I like how he pulls the ‘You arent better than me’ card.
Just cause he may have experimented, or used, in the past, has no bearing on whether or not he is comfortable actually pushing the stuff. Its one thing to be strung out on heroine and living all day every day on rock bottom.
Its quite another to push the stuff onto someone else and let them follow in your footsteps.
Ten is smart. He knows where the boundaries lay. If drugs started flowing on the station, like, really going all out big time, they would sweep in and fall on the source like the almighty fist of an angry God. No amount of talent would keep Ten out of prison. He would waste the short life he has left in jail, and then get thrown right back into the ghetto he worked so hard to get out of.
This is his ticket out. This is his ticket to bigger and better things. This is the road he has to walk to find his father. He cant fuck this up.
But all Jael cares about is making him his petty cash. He probably wouldnt be too upset if he got ejected from the program and sent packing, cause he has no real ambitions for himself. All he wants to be is King Shit of Shit Mountain.
Am I wrong?
Since there doesn’t appear to be a “like” option for comments here, I’m going to give you a thumbs up in this comment instead. Very well thought out analysis, good sir or madam.
Agree. And from the other background details we’ve gotten, Ten doesn’t seem to have usually been experimenting with anything particularly “hard”. He’s the equivalent of a college kid sneaking beer and pot into his dorm and yet Jael is trying to guilt him into deciding that since he’s broken one (probably more-or-less-harmless) boundary he isn’t allowed to have any moral qualms.
Candlejack: Not wrong.
Jael is a piece of shit.
Experimenting is certainly not the same as selling. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Jael. Wondering if he was pulled into a gang when they were kids and if now he’s recently broken up with his girlfriend. He has appeared to shelter Ten before so this seems different.
OMG: That’s right, Ten, … I’m this hot-shot bad-a**! Don’t you want to slide down the slippery slope with me? I mean I’m just trash, but look at me!! I’m the KING of Trash!
… And You Could Be One Too!
Douche move Jael, douche move.
He was in Atakames and I bet he was in a part that sounds the same as his name. Probably the place where he learned all this drug pushy pushy. Probably had a scarred and scruffy “mentor” with bad teeth and a penchant for. . . well. . . that’s probably far enough.
Well, appearently Ten was in a part of Atakames that wasn’t much better, since he learned himself how to do some shady trades and favours.
What I really want to know is how the thing that affected Jael also made his whole family move pretty swiftly out of their old home.
I think this comic is basically saying he didn’t.
Thought I posted this ages ago.
Pretty soon… I can feel it; we’re going to find out how Jael really lost part of his ear and the feeling in his his hand.
he feels everything with his hand, see the party pages, he hurts himself on glass.
Oh…. I… Wasent expecting that
I thut that was the shapshifter but know
I have a hunch that he wasn’t wounded in a random dinosaur encounter. That was a gang ambush.
Maybe less an ambush but a gang fight.
Or something completely different.
But I think it had something to do with the T’hyrma, since he said himself that the poison fried the nerves in his ear and hand, and also I read somewhere that the story he told Ten was pretty close to reality
Now I’m going back on my previous idea that this might be Tattle in disguise. But I’m definitely going for my alternate idea that this is a major plot development.
Ditto, what you said, major plot twist.
Someone just lost the faith in the friendship…. And someone never had it.
O.K. Maybe not the end of the friendship, but, It is Not a Crime to Be Poor. It IS a crime to prey on Poor people, well anybody really, but especially folks at a disadvantage. And drugs just drags the whole community down.
I wouldn’t say it’s Tattle in disguise, bcs he already told Ten that the almost never shift into somebody the person they will talk to might know.
And even IF he had shifted into Jael, there would be no use for him to sabotage the friendship of Ten and Jael, and he wouldn’t say something like that by accident.
Poor Ten, doubly betrayed.
The fact that we are not seeing his face… this isnt him. it doesnt feel like him. something is going on.
Well, I think we can’t see his face because it’s harder to express the emotion with a picture than with words and imagination.
I don’t know why everyone is freaking out about how this isn’t Jael, I mean we don’t know much about him than that he’s Tens childhood friend who does shady things and has a even shadier past.
i would’ve had him say “i dont want to get people stuck on that path” instead of “i dont want anything to do with it” if what jael said about experimenting is true.
since most plot related things have been spoken on I would like to compliment you on the way you constructed this page, I think it flows well and, as someone mentioned above, I like how you hid Jaels face.
The page doesn’t load for me D: This is truly a sad day.
It works now. Maybe my internet is just being weird.
Let’s delve into the past! You better tell the truth Jael!
