Oh snap, you listen to S. J. Tucker as well? Dude, you gotta slow down, you’re way too awesome already.
Oh hey sweet! I love S.J. Tucker. I’ve been a fan for years and have collected most of her music because dang she has a nice voice and sings good songs. Nice to meet a fellow fan! 🙂
This is all very interesting, BUT WHAT ABOUT MY PALE SUMMER CHILD?? Somebody mojo him back from the dead please.
He’s not really dead given he’s Nox…just transcended. The question is will he chose to return to mortalhood?
In a side stuff, it was explained that Gods need to manifest themselves for a lifetime to conserve/recover their godly powers. Otherwise they slowly degrade until the Gods can no longer intervene in the physical world, condemned to watch only.
It is a horrible, dead-painfull, gutwrenching procedure to possess a newborn (each God has their prefered specie), and they completely forget who they really are during their life, but upon death they return to godhood pumped to the 9000 and with all their identity restored.
OHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOD WHAT A FUCKING TWIST I’M SO INVESTED RIGHT NOW
How can any person with a heart still beating not be totally absorbed in this? Say what you will about “something positive,” “DOA”, Gunnerkrigg,” questionable content,” tripping over you,” “always raining,” “Follower,” the fabulous “Between Failures,” “Wilde Life,” or the new and exciting “How to Be a Werewolf,”. (there wolf, there castle), but SOG takes the cake, the icing, and the candles. There is, and has not been for about a decade, a web comic that has so consistently brought my heart to dizzying heights, or rammed it high up in my throat. This comic has more feels per page than any four you can name. I’ll shut up now, sh*t I can be tedious sometimes.
Sorry for the screed.
How could anyone with a heart still beating, not be totally enrapt (en-wrapped?) by this webcomic. I lost the screed I typed, but damn, this is just the best and by that I meant everything else is pale, for me, by comparison.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Go Ten, who is also Nox? Or rather, Now was also Ten? And just who are his friends, then?
And more importantly, why were they embodied in mortal form? “Home at last, the lost…” Just lost to the pantheon/godhood club, or lost for an actual reason? Intentional or not? hnnnnnnnnnnn
This is so great!!!! I had hoped, and my wishes were granted!
Have the others had their own spirits following them around and protecting them? I know I saw Ten’s girlfriend with one, but what about the rest? …Is there somewhere that you’ve laid out the pantheon details? The religious figures and deities, and how they connect?
Gods, spirits and myths can be found here: http://www.ixion.kahmith.com/?page_id=20
As for the rest of the cast having their own spiritual guidance, I too have only seen Akiba have a ghostly sidekick here: http://fav.me/dbj7vbx
Thought I can’t make sense of what deity it belongs to. All of the gods animals have been shown once in either SoG or Ixion, exept for the Shau-tasok which are the animals associated with Vaga, and for me personally that doesn’t make sense.
Of course this spirit in the background could also just be a different form of an avsaroke (the animal, not the author 😉 ) which would put her closer to Sivri.
So, I was quite wrong and Ten is actually Nox, but now come all the consequent questions.
Like, why was Nox in Kilm form, and presuming the others are also part of the pantheon, why are they also in Kilm form?
This question has me confused. All of them have chosen the Kilm form because they are all Kilm gods & goddesses. They all have animal avatars, but those are more like symbols for them, than what they are. (They were created by the Kilm using a shared belief? Or something?). So they aren’t shimsa cause they weren’t created by Tattle and the gang. Go to the Ixion site, and Click on the buttons at the top to read about spirits, gods, legends, and stories. Much fun to be had, reading that!
I believe they were asking why Nox was in a mortal kilm form (aka, Ten). Not why is appearance as Nox is kilm-like.
And don’t worry, just keep reading and all will be…. revealed.
Well, actually I had the theory that Ten was, like, the son of Nox from when he was manifested; with Nox sending the twins ’cause that would make Ten a demigod and stuff…
But being Nox HIMSELF BROTHA’ !! That was awesomely unexpected ;7
So… Ten is really Nox? Oh, yeah… “Ten” = “No. X”. How come nobody guessed?!
That’s really clever, Lee. I guessed, though not because of his name. There were other indicators that he was Nox’s living avatar, like the way the twins treated him sometimes, especially after he stepped off the edge of the world (after the party, I think). They displayed quite a bit of respect, and I think one indicated he was their father, if they didn’t outright say it. Also Page #61, and his reaction to Akiba.
Of course, the clues only really made sense after reading the myth in which the gods decided to live mortal lives occasionally to better understand the mortal world. That, and a rereading of Terry Pratchett’s book “Strata” jarred the idea loose.
Without searching the archives, (iirc) in year three or four, someone smarter than I commented on this. Sres, Zeke, 1800Hellmo, I don’t remember who but it is in the comments from years ago.
Or more likely Zanozoth or Natemare.
And yea I did guess a long time ago that Ten was Nox. I don’t -remember- anymore what led me to get to that, as this comic has persisted through many bad times in my life.
All is well now! And when I saw this page I wasn’t even surprised haha
Pages 326/327 (And one a few pages earlier) I was talking about it.
While apparently drunk. I couldn’t even remember the name of the God I thought he was it seems haha. And I did heavily question myself as well.
I could feel that Ten saying he made La and Li wasn’t just coincidence. Ava, you genius writer you.
Zanozoth: It’s good to read a comment by you again.
I cannot tell if you are smart or clever, but that doesn’t matter. It’s just good good to see you around. Avs told me, privately, that Ten would find love. . But she never said anything about him not living long enough to enjoy it. But at the time I was dealing with some death-defying personal issues; and this comic was a real lifeline. Avs is the best.
So glad Adm. Maev found Lt. Luka. Now I wanna know about the little threesome of Tattle, Maev, and Luka; what is the stations secret??????
Are they traitors? Saboteurs? Smugglers? Pirates? Because: Hello; Pirates!
I HAVE SOOOOOO MMAAANNYY QUESTIONS!!!!!!
why are the gods in kilm form and not animal form this time?
what is the timeline so important?
Why do the gods care about time?
What will happen to everyone’s favorite pale friend from another world?
So this mean’s Ten’s gal is likely Lillith, let’s guess what some of the others might be based on personality!
Ten was Nox, and it seems the other gods are in mortal Kilm form, too.
The way I see it, this has nothing to do with “powering up” as it was in the myth, because there the gods chose animals as their avatars, that’s how every god got connected to their associated animal. This time, they all seem to inhabit Kilm, so either they just wanted to try a different way to power up, or they are trying to influence the Kilm’s world through individual actions instead of “religious suggestions” or whatcha gonna call that.
Also, I don’t think the whole cast are gods in disguise, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense that the twins influenced Kiva to like Ten, and how Nox himself want’s to get Kiva and Raj back together.
Akiba, on the other hand, seems to be a special case, though that’s up to you to decide (http://fav.me/dbj7vbx , mind the reflection).
Now, about Kasimira and November… If I remember correctly they, too, are children of Nox, a failed experiment to split a soul, and the predecessors of Li and La.
From their muttering I’d take a huge guess and say
1. It has something to do the strange ships invading kilm space and destroying everything in their path
2. They know what is commanding these ships, and it has it’s origins in the spiritual world.
Ofc, they could just be reffering to the gods returning home after their time in mortal form 🙂
I love how the comments on this page just exploded c:
Like, I had this page open on mobile with like three comments.
Next time I hit refresh it jumps up to twenty XD
Okay, so I’m now up to speed on the whole “gods become physical beings in order to replenish themselves” thing.
But it appears from some earlier clues as though war is coming to the Kilm, and it’s doing so very rapidly.
Perhaps the gods are replenishing themselves all at the same time in order to have the power to save the kilm, otherwise the gods won’t have anywhere to “vacation” to the next time they need to replenish themselves?
Quite possible, it would explain why “THE TIMELINE” seems so important right now to Nox and the other gods.
Either that or the gods reincarnate on mass when the time comes, with one god drawing the short straw to babysit the spirit realm. With Vaga drawing the short straw this time.
What, or perhaps who is stalking Jael? Unless it was just drug induced paranoia? (Yeah, No, I don’t think so, so yeah; No!)
